How the reunion of Georgia coach and daughter Savannah Henderson came to be
Henderson, a freshman who transferred from UCF, decided to play at Georgia to play under her mother once again.
At the age of 2, Savannah Henderson came to an early-season practice at Missouri State dressed as a ladybug for Halloween. She watched her mother, Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, work in the early days of her first head coaching stop in the Midwestern city of Springfield, Mo.
The young ladybug sat alongside her family member Tahnee Balerio as Henderson got one of her first tastes of basketball and all of the nuances that come with it. Those moments created a love for the game and a familiarity with the people her mother trusted and surrounded herself with.
“She’s around it 24/7,” Abrahamson-Henderson said. “Poor thing.”
